| In the Spring of 1981 our first KTA meeting was held in Louisville Kentucky with 200 eager taxidermists present. Officers were elected and bylaws drafted. In 1982 the Kentucky Taxidermist Association became officially incorporated. Approximately 145 (out of 200) of the state's licensed taxidermists were members of the KTA . More than half were college educated. Taxidermy was 80% subsidized income for members. There are many benefits to joining the Kentucky Taxidermist Association. The annual convention is always a thrill to go to. It is filled with three days of Competing, Seminars, Taxidermy Suppliers, Auction, Banquet, and camaraderie. When you compete, you will have one on one time with the judge to review your entries. As a member, you may attend free educational seminars that will help you further your taxidermy career. Seminars are put on by some of the best international, state and national taxidermists today. Seminars are packed full of information for taxidermists by taxidermists. The conventions consist of banquets to recognize and congratulate new and old members for their hard work. There you get the chance to meet and converse with other fellow KTA members, enjoy fantastic food, conversation, and participate in the fun filled evening. Not only are banquets and seminars the only thing to experience, we also host a dance where fellow members get together, talk and have just a good time . Membership dues are renewable at the beginning of each year. You will receive a membership card, our blue book consisting of up-to-date bylaws and quarterly newsletters. The art of taxidermy in Kentucky has grown through seminars, conventions, and meetings. We welcome everyone to come and join this amazing group of men, women, and children as we go forward into the future of taxidermy. Our Kentucky Association is a growing family of people who all have taxidermy on their minds. Becoming an active part in this may benefit you and us as well in many more ways than imaginable. So join us today and become part of our KTA family! |
