In the Spring of 1981 our first KTA meeting was
held in Louisville Kentucky with 200 eager
taxidermists present. Officers were elected and
a by laws committee was formed. In 1982 the
Kentucky Taxidermy Association became
officially incorporated.

We had more than half of the state's licensed
taxidermists present in the KTA (145
approximately with 200 licensed). More than
half were college educated. Taxidermy was
80% subsidized income for members.

There are many benefits to joining the KTA.
Our annual convention is always a thrill to go
to. It is filled with three days of fun,
competition, new experiences, education, and
camaraderie. Along with the chance to
compete, you will have one-on-one time to
review your entries with the judges.

As a member, you may attend free educated
seminars that will further help you on your
taxidermy career that is put on by some of the
best international, state and national
taxidermists today. These seminars are packed
full of information for taxidermists by
taxidermists.

The conventions also always consist of banquets
to recognize and congratulate new and old
members on their hard work. You receive then
the chance to meet and converse with other
fellow KTA members, enjoy fantastic food and
conversations, and participate in the fun filled
parts of the evening. Not only are banquets
and seminars the only thing to experience, but
we also host a dance where many fellow
members get together and get the time to just
talk and have a good time with one another.

The membership dues are paid yearly,
renewable at each convention. Prior to
becoming a member of the KTA, you receive
proof of your membership, our blue book
consisting of the up-to-date by laws directed at
our profession, and quarterly newsletters.

The art of taxidermy in Kentucky has grown
through seminars, conventions, and meetings.
We welcome everyone to come and join this
amazing group of men, women, and children as
we go forward into the future of taxidermy.
Our KTA association is a growing family of
people who all have taxidermy on their minds.
Becoming an active part in this may benefit you
and us as well in many more ways than
imaginable. So join us today and become part
of our KTA family!
